The French Countryside

Leaving the country always makes me realize how little I know about the rest of the world. I have such hyper-focused connections to specific locations that I tend to forget how diverse a single country can be from north to south. Upon arriving in France, specifically Marseille, I realized my hyperfocus on France is Paris. The big city, croissants, the Eiffel tower, and crowds of tourists pushing for a glimpse of the Mona Lisa.

My home base for the trip is Lacoste, France, a beautiful village nestled in the Luberon Valley. For now, no big city, no Eiffel tower. Instead, I'll walk cobblestone paths up and down the mountainside while overlooking olive fields and wine vineyards. Being that it’s winter in the south of France, the air is crisp and the clear skies are perfect for views of nearby hilltop villages like Bonnieux and the surrounding range of towering mountains.

While I can’t be sure of what this journey will hold, it’s already been so exhilarating to “live” outside of my comfort zone. The cultural shift that I’ve encountered has allowed for a new chapter of exploration, and I can’t wait to document the moments to come.

Au Revoir for now!
